6 Ways to Be More Positive When Things Get Hard

Manifest positivity

A lot has been going around lately about manifesting what you want in life and at first I thought that was all crazy talk…but it actually makes sense. If you force yourself to think you’re a happier and more positive person you can trick your brain to actually believe that you are.

Manifesting something is consciously thinking about yourself in that place or state in your life. If you want to be successful you can manifest success by believing that you are successful. If you want to be happier and more positive you can manifest happiness and positivity by believing that you are a happier and more positive person. Manifesting happiness and positivity has done wonders for me and has completely changed the way that I think of and look at things. It’s actually amazing what you can make your brain do just by actively putting it into your consciousness.

Surround yourself with positivity

Have you ever heard the saying, “You’re a creature of your environment”? It’s 100% true. If you surround yourself with people who are positive and happy you will also become more positive and happy. You don’t need negative or toxic people around because they will only bring you down. I enjoy surrounding myself with happiness and positivity because it brings my mood and level of optimism up quite a bit.

Try to always see the bright side of a situation

We all have shit that happens in our life and sometimes it’s hard to see any positives in a sea of negatives. I get it, I’ve been there and I still go to that place every once in a while — but you have to actively try not to let yourself get there. If you’re facing a struggle or a hardship you have to try to see a positive outcome at the end of that situation. You have to try to turn that negative into a positive. If you’re having financial issues focus more on how to fix them than the fact that you can’t afford to pay one of your bills. There is so much good that can come out of a bad situation and we have to learn to see that bright side. It might take a lot of trial and error and you won’t be able to accomplish this right off the bat, but it can be done. It is possible. I’ve trained myself to do this and it’s made my life and mood a lot better ever since. Optimism is very powerful and can really help you to be a much more positive person.

Don’t sweat the small stuff

There are certain things in our lives that we need to worry about but there are even more things that we can brush off. However, we frequently dwell on small non-issues and let them cloud our positive vision. You have to figure out what is worth your time and energy to be anxious over and you have to figure out what is too insignificant to even be a beacon on your radar.

Stressing over the small things will lead to unnecessary stress and you, as a busy mom, don’t need any more stress in your life. Life is way too short to worry about every little thing.

When you get to the point of getting constantly anxious and overwhelmed it’s time to assess your life and what’s going on in your life. I like to sit down with a pen and paper and write down every single thing that’s bothering me or on my mind. (I use a dedicated “Brain Dump” notebook for this very purpose.) When you’re reviewing your list, ask yourself this: “Does this really matter in the grand scheme of things?” You’ll be surprised how many trivial things are in your mind. These are things you may or may not be worrying about. If you have any larger situations that you’re worrying about, it’s important to think through the situation and any steps that can help you solve it. There’s a solution to every single problem, you just have to find it!

Be a healthier person

Cleaning up your diet, getting more sleep and focusing on getting more exercise can do wonders for your body and mind. Even if you aren’t into exercising or can’t exercise you can get out for short walks with your pets or your children. Any kind of exercise is good enough to get your blood moving and kick your brain into a more positive gear.

Eating healthier, exercising and getting more sleep will give you more energy for the things you love and the things you want to do in life and will, therefore, help to elevate your mood.

Focus on what you’re grateful for

Keeping a journal or a gratitude journal is an amazing way to get rid of what’s on your mind and become a happier person. Sometimes it’s hard to see any positives in our lives when we’re constantly worrying about the negative things. These bad things cloud our vision and we feel depressed and hopeless that things will ever change.

Try to write in a journal when you’re feeling like that. Write down what’s bothering you, any issues you’re having and any negative thoughts that are on your mind. After that, write a list of 5 things you’re grateful for and you’ll notice that the positive things that you have in your life are so much more important than any of those negatives. Focus on those throughout the day or when you’re feeling down, realizing that we have so many people in our lives who love us and so many great things that we’re lucky to have; it helps.
